The symbols & Dr.Usui,Chujiro Hayashi & Ms. Takata.

~The (second degree,& one third degree) symbols that follow are somewhat a mix of traditional symbols and modern ones. Next to each will be a brief explination of what they mean & how they are used. These symbol graphics were borrowed from The MystiCollection (see info below). They are not the exact ones that I use, but for lack of my own graphics proudicing capabilities I share with you these. Remember, intent is the key and if they are not perfect your reiki guides ALWAYS fix them for you!

~One that I do use IS missing. It is called the RAKU & is used for passing attunements only. (third degree) It resembles a lightening bolt. The RAKU is drawn from top to bottom , right to left, with three strikes, so to speak. The only reason it is missing is because I could not find a graphic to post.

~These symbols were borrowed from The MystiCollection of RobynA.com [http://www.robyna.com]...if you visit her site, there are many wonderful graphics for you to use free on your personal site. Thanks Robyn!~

~below are some brief descriptions of the symbols, their meanings and uses taken from Diane Steins book Essential Reiki.

Cho-Ku-Rei (traditional)
~The Cho-Ku-Rei's main use is to increase power. Within reiki it is known as " the light switch" By simply visualizing it your ability to do reiki will be increased many times. You will probably use it in every healing. The design of this symbol is in the shape of a labyrinth which represents initation and goddess energy.
Sei-He-Ki (basically traditional)
~The Sei-He-Ki is traditionally used for emotional healing. This symbol brings divinity into human energy patterns and aligns the upper chakras. It can also be used to invoke protection and purification. Its usually good to draw this symbol over one's crown chakra at the start of a healing.
Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen (traditional/modern mix)
~The Han-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen is also known as the "pagoda" or the older " stupa" ( a Tantric Buddhist representation of the chakras or 5 elements in statue or building form.)It's main use is for distance healing. The symbol spans all space and time. "no past,no present,no future" (the time is always NOW) It also is an entrance into the Akashic Records, the life records of each soul, and therefore it's most important use is in healing KARMA.
Dai-Ko-Myo (traditional/modern mix)
~The Dai-Ko-Myo is used for both healing and passing attunements. Its focus is healing the soul, working mostly on the spiritual level. A wonderful symbol to draw over the heart!
