The Green
~For those who are not really sure what WICCA, WITCHCRAFT, NATURAL WITCH, or THE GREEN means read on..........

The Pentagram
~To keep things simple, here is a brief history of the PENTAGRAM & it's use in relation to (modern)neo-pagans today.........
~Pentagram finds it lingustic origins in Greek. Pente, means 5 . Gramma, means a letter.
~The pentagram can be traced back to a Goddess named KORE. Her worship spread from what is present day England to Egypt. Called CAR,CARA,CERES,KARI,KORE,O'RE...her sacred symbol is the apple. When we cut an apple thru its center we find a nearly perfect star in which there is one seed at each point, truly food for thought?
~ While neo-pagan (or wiccan) origins seem to begin with Greald Gardner, we can trace ancient references begining with PYTHAGORAS (586 BCE/506 BCE) to coptic Gnostic Christians of Alexandria & Egypt( 4 th century CE). The Hebrews, early Christians & Celts also have recorded use of this magical symbol.
~Counting clockwise(DESIOL) we find earth(bottom left) air(top left) Spirit(top point) water(top right) and fire(bottom right). The (sometimes seen) circle surrounding the pentagram calls for unity, oneness & the "marriage" of God & Goddess. In some wiccan paths you will see and hear this pentagram & circle called a pentacle. ( when drwan or carved on a raised disk) In my tradition,(GREEN WITCHCRAFT)we use both the pentagram & the pentacle, refering to the pentacle as representing the element earth.
~ lets clear all this non-sense about the INVERTED pentagram, shall we? In essence,it really does not have anything to do with satanists! In a particular "level" of the craft (second degree) that some wiccans follow the use of the pentagram is inverted. This is to represent that the soul has begun its journey downard to the core of spirit. Similar to the Native American practice of SHAMANISM. The soul will then transform & trancend all that is of this world,(the elements) and return again (in the third degree) to Spirit in the ascending position. For the soul to travel from enlightenment thru this worldly dimension of learning we can percieve this experience as some what of a dark night or spiritual winter. It is from this association of light to dark & back to light.... that the "evil" attachments were passed on to the inverted pentagram. Then, those pesky satanists took it over as their own to show the {ever stagnant} rule of this world ( the elements & or satan) over spirit!
~At it essence the pentagram represents our 5 senses of being & the 5 elements (earth, air, fire, water and (spirit) love) radiating outward from the central shape of our cosmos.
  Some Pagan Basics
~PAGAN......a peasent or countryman,.......a person who is not a Christian,Moslem, or Jewish.........gentile, heathen......as used now, the term pagan is applied to to anyone with belief in the ancient polythestic religions.
I am sorry to say, Webster's definition really doesn't cut it.......let go a little deeper.......
~ANIMISM...all life is produced by a spiritual force, seperate from matter...belief that natural phenomena have life & spirit within......
~PANTHEISM...the doctrine or belief that God/dess is not a personality, but that all laws, forces, manifestations, etc. of the self existing universe are God/dess..god/dess is everything..everything is God/dess.
~POLYTHEISM...belief in many God/dess, or more than one God/dess opposed to monotheism.......spirit manifests in many forms

~ Well we are getting closer......in short...pagans view the world that surrounds us with life & spirit of which we are all a part of... There is no limiting doctrine, or dogma....... an idea of spirit that allows for multiple meanings, complexities & ambiguities. hmmmm. sounds like real life , huh? lets continue.....
Now things get a little confusing...........magick, Witch, Wiccan, degrees, traditions,Hinduism, the new age...the list goes on & on so I am going to stick with some basic overall similarities of neo pagans rather than try & define all of it.....ok?
~here goes...............try to stick with me............
~Magick........We have Vegas magic & then we have MAGICK.......I would like to discuss the latter of the two........sometimes called "The Power" in my tradition is everywhere. It is the divine life force energy that is everything! The Green calls on this powers of nature working side by side with the individual to create change. The more we use these energies the stronger their presence becomes. This energy is REAL & DIVINE. One thing about Wiccans & the workings of magick is that we honor the universal LAW of free will & are bound to NEVER interfere with it! In other words, Witches never try and change someone's karmic balance. No matter how great desire may be to do so.
~Magical workings may include , but are not limited to.........Herb Craft, Energy raising, Focusing, & Sending, Divination, & Healings.
~Most pagans are attuned to the earth's natural cycles & rythms. Our year of celebration and ritual parallels the phases of the sun & moon. Some you may be familiar with are the Solstices & Equinoxes.............

~In sumary, pagans & witches at their core are true ( but cheerful) anarchists.......everyone has the right to decide what is right for themselvs! ( honoring one "rule" harm ye none,do what ye will, what is sent out comes back to thee..) We are independant thinkers & non judgemental. We are mothers, fathers, family & friends, healers, teachers, and we are everywhere!
More to come,......... I just got burnt out trying to condense all I have to say............:)

The Green Level of the Craft
~ The Green..............no, not cannabis! The green element of the craft.............fooled ya!
ok...........ahhhhhh this is home for me..........
~some green history....Green Witchcraft is the craft in its simplest form, begining with the primal Mother & Father. Sometimes it is used to denote Celtic Galeic traditions which honor earth spirits...faeries....etc.......... It is the base level of the "old religion" before priest/ess-hood or any complex "set" rules, rituals, & degrees of initaiton. There is no set litany, tools or vestments. The Green celebrates the true ecletic natural witch.
~ Another aspect of the Green is that there are no seperation of God & Goddess. We have reverence for them, not "faith" in them. Together we are one in the same, their immannce makes belief in them unneccassary.
~Our form of celebration is that of the common folk..the peasents......who were closest to the earth . No politics involved!! No high magick. Our traditions were passed down orally.........thru myth , everyday practice and communion with the divine.
~Herbal usage & connection with the fae runs strong, but is not required & most green witches are solitary practioners.
~Think of the green in terms of folk magick, fairy lore & herb craft. It might make more sense that way. Remember magick is personal, and you create your own sublime power!
~If you are interested in learning more about The Green please E me, I would love to share~
~So mote it be!!!!!!!!

GOD/DESS
~The connection to God & Goddess ( who are seen as equals) for the Green Witch is a natural, comfortable one. We are part of them , they are part of us! With the Goddess being undying & three fold, earth, moon & ( sacred )water. God is also undying & three fold, earth, sun & sky.
~Their love for us never ends!

THE WICCAN REDE
~ Bide the Witch's law you must
in perfect love & perfect trust.
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill:
And harm you none, do what you will. What you send forth comes back to thee,
So ever mind the Rule of Three.
Follow this with mind & heart,
merry we meet, & merry we part.~

WE ARE ALL ONE
~ No matter how you slice it, whatever name you choose to give yourself, whatever faith(s) you celebrate( or don't), the fact still remains WE ARE ALL ONE! From this there is no escape.........BLESSED BE!!!!!~
